Brianna

April 20, 2000 - March 4, 2005

Brianna was diagnosed on June 9th, 2004 with a Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV tumor located in the thalamus of her brain.  After the initial biopsy and two craniotomies, she had 2 rounds of chemotherapy followed by 30 radiation therapies. She stayed on oral chemotherapy until she relapsed in January 2005. She also needed physical and occupational therapies to help her regain the use of her right arm and hand affected by surgery.

Brianna was an angel through and through. She was always cooperative and brave even when she felt horrible. She never complained and took everything in stride. She taught all of us just how precious we are in God’s sight and that life truly is a gift.

Despite the very aggressive treatment, Brianna’s tumor reoccurred and we brought her home January 31st, 2005 for hospice care.  She lived another 5 weeks, enjoying Kindergarten, family and friends. She died peacefully on March 4, 2005. Brianna is our “more than one in a million” precious first-born daughter.

The relationships our family developed with the staff at Children’s Hospital are still treasured. We could not have had better care during the most challenging time a parent or family will face. They made an ugly time one that will hold a special, warm place in our heart forever. We are thankful for their expertise and compassion and know that nothing better exists.
